New Crib Guidelines For Santa Cruz Parents

First time Santa Cruz parents have many issues to deal with as they prepare for the arrival of their little one, but nothing is more important than crib safety. The federal government has issued new guidelines for crib manufacturers.

As of June 28, 2011, all cribs manufactured and sold in Santa Cruz and nationally must meet the new standards. The guidelines also apply to used cribs that are resold. Deadly drop-side rail cribs are now prohibited. The new rules also affect crib slat strength, mattress supports, hardware and the amount of testing required.

Should Santa Cruz Online Sellers Respond To Negative Reviews?

There are two schools of thought about negative reviews: To respond or not to respond.

In an article in the Direct Selling News, author Don Sorenson very effectively explains why responding to negative reviews may increase the harm to your online reputation. I believe the points that Mr. Sorenson makes regarding negative reviews are important for every Santa Cruz online seller.

AAP Immunization Information For Monterey Parents

In the past century, the rates of many serious diseases in the United States have significantly declined, in some cases, they have been virtually eradicated.

Many Monterey people have never met a person with measles, polio, small pox, rubella, tetanus, or diphtheria; though these diseases killed thousands of California children in past generations.

One of the main reasons many dangerous communicable childhood diseases have been minimized in our area is due to Santa Cruz children’s immunizations. The increase in immunization use has gone a long way to improve health in our California communities.

Recently, I have noticed that many Monterey parents are questioning the children’s immunization schedule. I came across an informative American Academy of Pediatrics FAQ sheet that addresses most of the common concerns.

Homemade Activities For Santa Cruz Kids

It shouldn’t cost a fortune to get your Santa Cruz kids fun, educational toys. Here at the Santa Cruz Children’s Health Blog we want to provide parents with some ideas to keep their young children’s minds healthy. This homemade activity for toddlers uses an egg carton and encourages development of fine motor skills.

You’ll need:
Empty egg carton
Plastic Easter eggs, in assorted colors
Card stock, or other heavy paper
Markers
Puff balls, in assorted colors

Many of these supplies are probably already in your Santa Cruz area homes. For the rest, they can easily be found at any Scotts Valley, Pacific Grove, or Monterey dollar store.

Santa Cruz parents can take the card stock, cut it into cards, and draw an egg shape on each card. Then color each egg in a different color-combination. Have your kids draw a card, and when they see they color combination, they’ll take the plastic eggs from the carton and assemble the same combination from the eggs.

Your Santa Cruz children will have fun while keeping their minds active and healthy as they practice learning their colors and copying color patterns.

Another great activity for Santa Cruz kids is to have them put colored puff balls inside the same color of egg. For safety, make sure the puff balls aren’t a choking hazard.
